Angel Reese is a double-double machine for the Chicago Sky. In their 92-85 win against the Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday, she hit double figures in points and rebounds just after halftime of the 50th game of her WNBA career.
The second-year forward came into the game averaging 11.7 points and a league-leading 12.3 rebounds per game in the 2025 season.
She had nine double-doubles in 15 games this season before putting up No. 10 on Sunday. She finished with a season-high 24 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists on 10-for-19 shooting.
Reese, the fastest player to record 500 points and 500 rebounds in a WNBA career, now has 36 double-doubles in her first 50 games with the Sky.
Prior to Reese, the player with the most double-doubles through 50 career games was WNBA all-time rebound leader Tina Charles, who plays for the Connecticut Sun.
Reese’s 36 eclipsed Charles’ record of 32 double-doubles in 50 games with room to spare.
During Sunday’s game, Reese moved into the top 10 in rebounds in Chicago Sky franchise history, in just her second season.
It was also Reese’s fourth-straight game with at least 15 rebounds, another WNBA record, according to the ESPN broadcast.
Before the game against the Sparks, Los Angeles coach Lynne Roberts praised Reese’s rebounding ability and put her among the best to ever do it — just like the stats suggest.
“She is unbelievable on rebounding,” Roberts told reporters on Saturday. “I know everyone talks about it and all the things, but she is as good as I have ever seen.”
Reese set the historic mark in front of WNBA legend Candace Parker, who won championships with both Los Angeles and Chicago and had her No. 3 jersey retired by the Sparks on Sunday.
During her rookie season in 2024, Reese set the record for consecutive double-doubles with 15. The previous record was 12 games in a row, held by Parker.
