In 29 years time Bath fans won’t remember how they won it this afternoon, the thing that matters is that they did.
Today’s Bath wasn’t the one which shone in all aspects for a 20-minute purple patch in their play-off victory over Bristol eight days ago, and it wasn’t really the one which topped the Premiership table by 11 points over the course of the regular season.
However, they found a way, to overcome their own mistakes and perceived injustices, and held firm when it mattered in the closing stages, to finish the season as treble winners for the first time in their long history.
A seventh Premiership title, and first since 1996, is a new dynasty beginning?
As for Leicester, it’s definitely the end of a chapter, with Ben Youngs, Dan Cole, Julian Montoya, Handre Pollard and Michael Cheika all now departing Mattioli Woods Welford Road.
The Tigers will be back, of course – it’s Leicester – but for now they must lick their wounds.
Thanks for your company this afternoon, and throughout the season… we’re off to find some after sun and get ready for a summer of British and Irish Lions fun.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
